Don Vieth joined the RiverHawks in October 2016 initially as Director of Athletics Communications after spending over four years at Cameron University as Sports Information Director. 

On July 1, 2019, Vieth was elevated to Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Communications.  He serves as sport administrator for NSU baseball and women's tennis, oversees the Athletics internship program, and continues to serve as the primary media liaison for RiverHawks Athletics.  

Since joining the department, Northeastern State Athletics' social media presence has more than doubled on Twitter and grown by three times on Facebook.  Additionally, @RiverHawkSports is the first NCAA Division II Athletics program in Oklahoma to be verified on Twitter.  In 2024, he was named as Northeastern State's Model the Way Recipient.

Vieth has previously served as the D2CCA Softball Central Region Awards Coordinator and National Chair of the D2SIDA Women's Basketball National Poll.  He currently serves as the Super Region 3 Chair for the Gene Upshaw Award and is on the CSC Academic All-America Committee.

Since joining Northeastern State, the RiverHawks have had eight CoSIDA Academic All-Americas under his promotion efforts and in 2017 spearheaded the redesign of Northeastern State's website, GoRiverHawksGo.com.

Originally from Mauston, Wisc., Vieth earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Winona State University in Minnesota. He majored in mass communications-broadcasting and history to obtain his undergraduate degree, while his master's focus was in sports management.
 
He began his career as Director of New Media and Broadcasting at his alma mater in 2009 before moving to High Point University as its Multimedia Coordinator two years later. In 2012, he had a brief stint at the Lone Star Conference as a Marketing Assistant before heading to Lawton to become SID at Cameron.
 
In addition to serving as the primary athletics media relations contact at Cameron, Vieth also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) advisor.  He founded #SIDAchat, a national weekly Twitter chat for athletic communication professionals.  Oversaw five LSC Sports Information Student Academic Award winners and was considered a trend-setter in the use of social media applications.   Additionally, he was selected by the Lone Star Conference to attend the MOAA/NCAA Division II Governance Academy and was a voter on the D2SIDA men's basketball south-central regional poll. He also has four years of broadcasting experience. Including Winona State's appearance in the 2011 NCAA Division II College Baseball World Series and 2008 NCAA Division II men's basketball national championship run.

Vieth also worked for the Southern Illinois Miners, an independent baseball team in the Frontier League, in its media and production department in 2009.

Vieth currently resides in Coweta, Okla. and is an active member of CoSIDA.   Vieth married to his wife Rebecca (Crockett) who is a Northeastern State graduate in Speech Pathology.  The couple has two sons, Weston and Wilder.
