The 2015 season is the first at Northeastern State for Jennifer Abernathy. She serves as the graduate assistant for the RiverHawks.
Abernathy comes to Tahlequah after competing at Oral Roberts University from 2010-13. She is one of the most decorated players in ORU history, as she finished her career fifth in school history with 59 points. She was also fourth in school history with 21 goals and sixth all-time with 17 assists.
The 2013 NSCAA All-American Honorable Mention competed in 74 career matches with 66 career starts. She started every game in her final three years. She became ORU's first two-time NSCAA All-Region award winner as she was named to the 2013 First Team and the 2012 Third Team. She was also a three-time all-conference award winner (2012-13 Southland First Team, 2010 Summit League Second Team).
Other accolades during her time at Oral Roberts include 2013 Southland Player of the Year Runner-Up, 2013 Southland Student-Athlete of the Year, 2012-13 All-Tournament Team, and 2010 Summit League Newcomer of the Year. She was a four-year member of the ORU Honor Roll and was an ORU Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete.Â
Abernathy graduated from ORU in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and exercise science. She is working toward a Master of Science degree in kinesiology at NSU.
