TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The No. 15-ranked Northeastern State men's soccer team shutout Ouachita Baptist 4-0 Tuesday on Senior Night at DeLoache Field.
The RiverHawks moved to 10-3-3 on the season, while the Tigers dropped to 7-9-0. The five seniors that were honored prior to the contest were
Maxime Blanc,
Jordan Ladbrooke,
Jordon Smith,
Bo White and
Henry Wildenborg.
NSU outshot OBU by a 26-4 margin, and the home side got the game-winning goal in the 43rd minute when sophomore midfielder
Josue Morales found the back of the net for the first time this season. He was assisted by the Schmoker twins, Adam and Jordan.
Sophomore defender
Eric Crawford found his way onto the scoreline after taking a pass from White inside the six and drilling home the second goal of the match in the 47th minute. The play began when a corner kick found White on the far post. He sent the ball on the deck through the goal mouth, and Crawford was there to finish.
Freshman midfielder
Joel Mendoza scored his fourth goal of the year in the 74th minute off a pass from freshman forward
Crosby Lee, and White added his name to the party in the 86th minute when he scored his 11th tally of the campaign.
Ladbrooke (7-3-2) returned from a recent injury to record his 10th career shutout. OBU's David Henley (4-8-0) saved nine shots and took the loss.
The RiverHawks will close out the regular season in Searcy, Ark., when the team meets Harding University at 7 p.m. Oct. 26.
NSU has already qualified as one of four teams that will participate in the inaugural MIAA Men's Soccer Championship Nov. 1-3 in Olathe, Kan.
