SEARCY, Ark. – The No. 15-ranked NSU men's soccer team routed Harding University 7-1 Friday night at Harding Soccer Field.

The RiverHawks (11-3-3, 6-1-2 MIAA) closed out the regular season on a seven-match unbeaten streak (4-0-3), and the road side outshot the Bisons (4-11-3, 2-7-1 MIAA) by a 31-9 margin.

The seven goals were the most scored in a game in the two years of the NSU head coach Rob Czlonka era.

The scoring began in the 22nd minute when freshman forward Joel Mendoza finished a shot from sophomore midfielder Josue Morales that was misplayed by the keeper and trickled into the net.

Mendoza would then score what would later be the game-winner in the 28th minute. Senior midfielder Bo White sent a long pass over the top of the defense, and Mendoza took a touch and chipped the keeper.

Jackson Savage scored the lone goal of the night for the Bisons in the 41st minute, and Northeastern State would take a 2-1 advantage into halftime.

The flood gates were then opened by NSU, as the road side scored early in often until five second-half tallies were put on the scoreboard.

White started the second-half spree in the 48th minute when his free kick from just outside the 18 was blasted into the left side of the net.

Mendoza recorded his first-career hat trick in the 54th minute with help from Morales again, and freshman forward Crosby Lee joined the party in the 69th minute when he scored following a cross from freshman midfielder Paul Samia.

Sophomore forward Juan Peralta and White added goals in the 76th and 87th minutes, respectively. Senior midfielders Henry Wildenborg and Jordon Smith collected assists on the goals.

The RiverHawks have earned the second seed in the 2012 MIAA Men's Soccer Championship, and they will face third-seeded Truman State in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Nov. 1.
