OLATHE, Kan. – The No. 14-ranked Northeastern State men's soccer team is set to clash with No. 16 and top seed Lindenwood in the 2012 MIAA Men's Soccer Championship match at 11 a.m. Nov. 3 at the Olathe District Activities Center.

The second-seeded RiverHawks (12-3-3, 7-1-2 MIAA) had an hour training session Friday morning in Olathe. The team went through some light drills and concluded with a light-hearted penalty-kick session.

“It was a nice day to get the guys out, jog around, stretch their legs, and take care of those sore muscles and loosen them up a little bit,” Head Coach Rob Czlonka said. “We had a little bit of a laugh, took some PK's and we feel like we're ready for tomorrow.”

NSU defeated Truman State 2-0 in the semifinals Thursday, and the team received goals from sophomore midfielder Jordan Schmoker and sophomore forward Juan Peralta.

The Lions (14-2-3, 8-0-2) took down Fort Hays State 2-1 in the other semifinal match, and they are riding a seven-match win streak.

LU is outscoring opponents 35-13 this season, and the goals allowed is the least conceded in the conference. The team is led in scoring by Andre Hayne (7g-0a=14p) and Ivan Romero (4g-5a=13p). MIAA Freshman of the Year Fermin Hughes (14-2-3, 0.68 GAA, .822 S%) leads the charge in net.

“We are going to need everybody on our team to pitch in tomorrow if we want to get the job done against such a quality opponent,” Czlonka said. “The game we played earlier this year ended in a 0-0 tie. Both teams have been in the top of the conference all season, and I think this is going to be a great match.”
