TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's basketball team stays on the road for a 6 p.m. matchup Dec. 14 at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith inside Stubblefield Center.
The RiverHawks (4-4, 1-1 MIAA) are coming off their first loss in conference play, while the Lady Lions (3-4, 0-1 Heartland) recently snapped a three-game losing skid.
The two teams have only met once before, and that clash came last year (Feb. 27, 2012) when NSU picked up a 68-51 triumph. Then-junior
Taylor Lewis made eight three's en route to a career-high 30 points in just 29 minutes.
SCOUTING THE LADY LIONS
University of Arkansas - Fort Smith owns a 3-4 record this season with an 0-1 mark in the Heartland Conference. Victories this year have come over Henderson State (79-71), Huston-Tillotson (88-51) and, in its most recent action, Evangel (63-53). The win over Evangel snapped a three-game losing skid. Katie BenAmor leads the team in scoring at 13.9 ppg, and she is second in rebounding at 7.4 rpg. Angi Ramey averages 12.0 ppg and leads the squad in rebounding at 9.1 rpg.
LEWIS, GREEN SURPASS MILESTONES
Senior guard
Taylor Lewis and senior forward
Sarah Green both recorded their 100th career game in the green and white Nov. 24 against Tarleton State. Lewis has made 69 career starts and has scored in double figures 56 times, which includes a stretch sophomore year where she recorded 11 straight. Green owns 38 starts, has scored in double digits 15 times and has also recorded three double-digit rebounding efforts. Lewis also knocked down her 200th career three-point basket Nov. 20 against Northwestern Oklahoma State. She owns the school record for three's made in a game (8), season (87) and career (210). Lewis surpassed the 1,000-point plateau for her career against Drury. She now has 1,038 points in her four-year career.
VETERANS PACE THE RIVERHAWKS
Seven members of the Northeastern State women's basketball are currently averaging at least 5.0 points per game, with six being upperclassmen. Leading the way for NSU is senior guard
Taylor Lewis, who is averaging 12.8 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game. Not far behind is fellow senior guard
Tosha Tyler and her 11.6 ppg and 2.5 rpg. Junior guard
Katy Harsen rounds adds 7.1 ppg, and she is also grabbing 4.3 rpg. Senior forward
Sarah Green checks in at 7.3 ppg and 4.8 rpg, junior forward
Carrington Fox currently sits at 5.5 ppg and junior guard
Taylor Collins adds 5.2 points a night.
TOPS IN THE NATION IN TURNOVERS
The first NCAA statistics were released Dec. 2, and Northeastern State ranked as the top team in the country in terms of fewest committed turnovers per game. The RiverHawks were turning the ball over just 12.0 times per game this season, with a season-low nine coming against Northwestern Oklahoma State (Nov. 20, 2012).
FOX GOES OFF FOR CAREER HIGH
Junior forward
Carrington Fox recorded a career-high 13 points against Emporia State Dec. 5. She shot 6 of 9 from the field and added a career-high-tying seven rebounds to lead NSU to the 63-51 upset victory over the Lady Hornets. Fox also contributed two assists and two blocks in 27 minutes.
SAME STARTING FIVE
The RiverHawks have used the same starting five in all eight contests this season. The veteran group features three seniors (guards

Carrington Fox). These five are the only current members of the squad to have ever started a game for Northeastern State, and Lewis leads the way with 69 starting assignments.
OPENING MIAA PLAY ON A HIGH NOTE
The NSU women's basketball team payed in the first MIAA contest in school history Dec. 5 against No. 21 Emporia State. The RiverHawks jumped on top early at Jack Dobbins Field House and upset the Lady Hornets 63-51. Senior guard

A RARE TWO-GAME SLIDE
Northeastern State dropped consecutive games at No. 21 Tarleton State Nov. 24 and at Drury Nov. 28. The RiverHawks lost to the TexAnns 59-57 and to the Lady Panthers 65-57. This marked the first time since the opening game of the 2009-10 campaign that the green and white lost back-to-back games. NSU lost in the last game of the 2008-09 season 66-61 to West Texas A&M (March 4, 2009) and the first game of the 2009-10 campaign 67-66 to Gannon University (Nov. 6, 2009). The RiverHawks ended their rare two-game slide with a 63-51 victory over No. 21 Emporia State on Dec. 5.
