NORTHEASTERN HEAD COACH RANDY GIPSON
On defeating a ranked team…
“It's great to see our kids respond to our recent poor play. We executed the game plan. Our kids competed hard, and they executed some things real well on both offense and defense.”

On the team's effort…
“This was obviously the best game we've played all season on both ends. We won the rebounding battle, as well, and that is a very telling statistic for the kind of effort we gave tonight.”

On earning the first MIAA victory in school history…
“It feels good to be able to beat a good team like Emporia State and to win our first-ever MIAA game. I think it's a confidence builder. Our team needed this kind of game. We've been struggling to find that chemistry and rhythm in our play, and we needed this game. To be able to get it in the first conference game is big for us. “
