MATCH NOTES
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State men's soccer team is set for two home matches against MIAA competition. The RiverHawks (5-2-0, 2-1-0 MIAA) will first play host to Truman State (4-2-1, 2-0-1) at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 before meeting Upper Iowa (3-6-0, 1-2-0) at 1 p.m. Sept. 30. Both contests are tentatively scheduled to be held at DeLoache Field, but they may be moved to Doc Wadley Stadium due to weather conditions.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Truman State is 4-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the MIAA this year. The Bulldogs have defeated league foes Upper Iowa and Southwest Baptist, and they drew with Lindenwood. Truman is outscoring opponents 16-10. Andy Chapman (4g-0a=8p) leads the way for the Bulldogs, and Charlie Backus (1g-5a=7p) is second on the team in scoring. Nick Wallner (4-1-1, 1.32 GAA, .684 S%) is the top goalkeeper.
SCOUTING THE PEACOCKS
Upper Iowa owns a 3-6-0 mark this year with a 1-2-0 record in the MIAA. The Peacocks have defeated Southwest Baptist and lost to Lindenwood and Truman State. UIU has only allowed 13 goals this season, while having scored eight. Rafael Pedroso (2g-0a=4p) leads the team in scoring, with Marco Garcia (1g-1a=3p) right behind. Jordan Bell (3-5, 1.60 GAA, .783 S%) has played all eight games in net for the Peacocks.
LAST TIME OUT
Northeastern State went to Hays, Kan., and dropped a 3-2 double overtime decision to No. 15 Fort Hays State.
Juan Gonzalez and
Edgar Gonzaga gave the road side a 2-1 advantage in the second half, but the Tigers equalized in the 83rd minute and were able to find the golden goal in the OT session. NSU also defeated Southern Nazarene 2-1 in Bethany, Kan., with
Bo White earning the game-winning strike in the 89th minute. Gonzaga added three points in the contest.
WHITE UP THE SCOREBOARD
Senior midfielder
Bo White has been a scoring machine so far this season. He has put in eight goals through NSU's first seven games in 2012, giving him a 1.14 goals per game average. That mark is sixth best in the nation. He also ranks eighth in the NCAA in total goals, 16th in the country in points per game (2.3) and 16th in total points (16). White leads the MIAA in six statistical categories. Those are total shots (44), shots per game (6.3), points (16), points per game (2.3), goals (8), and goals per game (1.14).
NSU SPLITS PAIR IN HAYS
Northeastern State went to Hays, Kan., and split a pair of matches with Colorado Mesa and Sioux Falls. The RiverHawks fell behind 2-0 to the Mavericks on Sept. 7 before storming back with goals in the 84th and 88th minutes. Bo White recorded his first-collegiate hat trick to lead NSU to a 4-1 victory over Sioux Falls Sept. 9.
RIVERHAWKS RECEIVING VOTES IN NATIONAL POLLS
Northeastern State received votes in the latest 2012 NSCAA/Continental Tire Polls released Sept. 25. The RiverHawks are the third-highest ranked team in the MIAA. NSU was ranked for three-straight weeks prior to falling out this week. Northeastern State was ranked on three different occasions last year, reaching a season-best mark of No. 14 on Sept. 13. NSU was also ranked No. 15 (Oct. 4) and No. 19 (Sept. 27).
