ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The No. 25-ranked Northeastern State men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 road win over Ouachita Baptist Monday evening at the OBU Soccer Field.

The RiverHawks (9-2-4) have now gone on a five-match unbeaten streak after a brief two-match losing skid, while the Tigers (4-8-1) have dropped their last two matches.

The lone goal came in the 69th minute when junior midfielder Josue Morales was able to find the back of the net. The marker was his first of the season and the second game winner of his career. Morales became the 14th member of the squad to score a goal this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Eric Shephard (4-1-3) made three saves in the contest and earned his fourth clean sheet of the campaign.

NSU outshot the home side 25-6 and held a slight 6-5 edge in corner kicks.

Northeastern State will close out the regular season with a 5 p.m. match Nov. 1 against Harding University at DeLoache Field. The contest will double up as Senior Day for the green and white.

The RiverHawks have already clinched either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the upcoming MIAA Championship tournament and will meet No. 17 Fort Hays State in the semifinals on Nov. 7 in Olathe, Kan. The match will have huge NCAA Championship implications, as only one of the two sides will qualify for the season-ending event.

Statement…
"I'm happy Mora (Josue Morales) got a goal. He's been working hard all year. He had two really good shots today amongst other attempts. I was also extremely pleased with our backline, as they continue to perform well and got another clean sheet. Ouachita Baptist was throwing everything they had at us and they were able to hold their shape and get the job done. For them to be able to hold out the shutout after all the matches we have played recently is a testament to all the hard work they have put in this season."
