Northeastern State Coach Randy Gipson
On the game-winning 19-3 run…
"Lindenwood maintained their energy better than we did. We lost our energy a little bit and didn't do some things defensively that we set out to do. They hit some shots and played like a team that was hungry to win here at home, and we couldn't match their execution or their energy in the second half of the game."
Â
On other keys to the game….
"We were missing some shots that we could make. We lost composure a little bit. We played like a young team on the road against a pretty good team. When they had some things going their way, we didn't respond very well. We put our heads down a little bit after we missed some shots and couldn't get it turned back. We have some players that will step up and learn from this. This is a pretty inexperienced group, and games like today are opportunities for us to learn."
Â
On coming out of a road MIAA weekend with a 1-1 record…
"It's a hard trip coming up here with the cold and everything. I think it was a solid first weekend for us in terms of how we played. We obviously would like to get two wins, but I think this team has a lot of good basketball still to play. I'm looking forward to working with them and preparing for the next one."
