TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The No. 15-ranked Northeastern State men's soccer team takes its six-match conference winning streak into a 4 p.m. tilt Oct. 11 against Upper Iowa at DeLoache Field.

The RiverHawks (8-3, 6-0 MIAA) have yet to lose a league match this season, but they did drop a 3-2 home decision to Ouachita Baptist in their last outing.

Jordan Schmoker (5g-7a=17p) leads the green and white in goals, assists and points. Juan Peralta (4g-1a=9p) is second in both goals and points. Goalkeeper Jackson Biles (7-3) has four shutouts to go along with a 0.99 goals-against average and a .763 saves percentage. He has conceded just nine goals and made 29 saves in 814:53.

Northeastern State owns a 3-0 all-time record against Upper Iowa, with all three meetings coming since the two teams joined the MIAA in 2012. NSU claimed a 3-0 home victory over UIU in 2012, and the RiverHawks won 2-1 in Fayette in 2013 and 3-2 in overtime on the road earlier this year.

SCOUTING THE PEACOCKS
Upper Iowa University is located in Fayette, Iowa, and the athletics programs compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The men's soccer team is an affiliate member of the MIAA. The Peacocks sit at 6-4-1 overall this season and 3-3-0 in the league. The three losses for UIU have all come in overtime, and they were all against the top 3 teams in the league (NSU, Fort Hays State, Lindenwood). The team's last six matches have all been decided by one goal. Johnny McBeth and Ryan Pinkerton lead the Peacocks with four goals and two assists for 10 points each. Connor Rortvedt (6-4-1) has started all 11 matches in net, and he owns a 1.33 goals-against average, a .776 saves percentage and two shutouts in 1016:45.

THE LAST TIME OUT
NSU was upset 3-2 by Ouachita Baptist Wednesday evening at DeLoache Field. The RiverHawks saw their six-match win streak snapped, while the Tigers improved to 2-10 against NSU since 2000. The Tigers struck first, when a pair of goals 1:30 apart early in the match put the visitors up 2-0. Leading scorer Tinashe Chigede put home a rebound in the 16th minute following a Gideon Onguti header that was saved. A header by Logan Hampton in the 17th minute that chipped the keeper gave OBU the two-goal cushion. Hampton was assisted by Chigede. Juan Peralta cut the lead in half five minutes before halftime when he buried a pass from Crosby Lee. Chigede would not be denied the victory, however, as his header off a corner put OBU back up by two in the 57th minute. The RiverHawks could only muster a penalty kick from Jordan Schmoker in the 80th minute as the Tigers would hold on to their one-goal advantage. NSU outshot OBU 27-11 and led in corner kicks 7-4. The Tigers led in fouls, 14-9.

NSU STAYS AT NO. 15 NATIONALLY, NO. 1 IN THE REGION
Northeastern State was slotted at No. 15 in the nation this week, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday. The RiverHawks have been ranked as high as No. 7 in the country and have checked in at No. 15 in three of the last four weeks. In NSU's lone action of the last week, the team went to Lindenwood and earned a 1-0 victory. Monday's 3-1 win over Southwest Baptist did not factor into this week's rankings. The RiverHawks are the highest-ranked team from both the Central Region and the MIAA.

NSU TOPS LINDENWOOD IN ST. CHARLES
NSU defeated Lindenwood 1-0 on Oct. 4 at Hunter Stadium, which snapped the Lions' 22-match home unbeaten streak. The last time LWU lost at home was on Oct. 26, 2011 (20-0-2). The lone goal of the day came from freshman midfielder Hayden Rasmussen. He headed home a corner from senior forward Jordan Schmoker in the 29th minute of play. The Lions were unable to find an equalizer and were outshot 9-6. Sophomore goalkeeper Jackson Biles made a pair of saves and earned his fourth clean sheet of the season. The rough battle featured 15 fouls, six yellow cards and one Lindenwood red card
