RiverHawks fall in Searcy

Northeastern State defeated by Harding 100-89, five score in double figures

SEARCY, Ark. – The Northeastern State men's basketball team dropped a 100-89 decision to Harding Tuesday night inside Rhodes Field House.
 
The RiverHawks (1-2) trailed for most of the contest but nearly came from behind to top the Bisons (2-1). NSU trailed 52-40 at halftime by trailing by as much as 12 points in the first 20 minutes.
 
The road team then fell behind by 18 points at 61-43 with 17:16 to play but was able to tie the game at 83-83 with 4:54 to play.
 
Northeastern State was never able to regain the lead, and Harding used an 11-0 run in the game's final two minutes to secure the 11-point victory.
 
Senior guard Michael Harmon led the RiverHawks with 18 points and six assists. Junior guards Trey Mohair (17 points) and Demone Harrison (16 points) both came off the bench to notch double figures, while freshman guard Montre' Williams (11) and senior guard Keon Littleton (10) also hit the 10-point plateau.
 
Andraz Kavas (22 points, 13 rebounds) and Johnthan McGee (28 points) led the home side, while Jacob Gibson (17 points) and Will Francis (16 points) also hit double digits.
 
Northeastern State hit 41.5 percent (34-for-82) from the field, 40.5 percent (15-for-37) from distance and 100 percent (6-for-6) at the free-throw line. The Bisons shot 53.8 percent (28-for-52) from the field, 46.4 percent (13-for-28) from deep and 79.5 percent (31-for-39) at the line.

NSU returns to action with another road contest in Arkansas. The team will travel to Fort Smith, Arkansas, for a 7:30 p.m. battle Nov. 25 against the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
