Click here for the NCAA Super Region 3 Championship CentralTAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The No. 12-ranked Northeastern State men's soccer team is set to play host to the 2014 NCAA Men's Soccer Super Region 3 Championship Nov. 21-23.

The first match in the NCAA Third Round will pit No. 5 Quincy (19-1-2) against No. 21 Saginaw Valley State (14-4-2) at 4 p.m. Nov. 21. The RiverHawks (16-3-1) will then face No. 23 Fort Hays State (11-5-3) at 7 p.m. The two match winners will compete in the finals of the Super Region 3 Championship at 1 p.m. Nov. 23. All three matches will be held at DeLoache Field on the campus of Northeastern State University.
The team left standing will advance to the NCAA Championship semifinals and finals, which will be contested Dec. 4-6 in Louisville, Kentucky.
The RiverHawks are set to face Fort Hays State for the third time this season. NSU won 2-1 on Sept. 18 in Tahlequah, and the two teams played to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 26 in Hays, Kansas. The all-time series between the two rivals stands at an even 3-3-4.

PREPPING FOR THE BIG DANCENortheastern State is set to return to the NCAA Championship tournament for the second time in three years and for the fourth time in school history. NSU also served as hosts to the Super Region 3 Championship in 2012. The RiverHawks are 1-3 all-time in the national event, and they picked up their first win in the championship against Fort Hays State in 2012. NSU went on to fall 1-0 in double overtime to Saginaw Valley State two days later in the NCAA Quarterfinals. Those on the current roster who have recorded points in the NCAA tournament are

THE MIAA TOURNAMENTNortheastern State won the 2014 MIAA Championship tournament after knocking off Upper Iowa (semifinals) and Lindenwood (championship) by identical 2-1 margins. The conference title was the first tournament championship in school history and capped off a near-perfect run through the league this season. NSU posted an unbeaten 13-0-1 mark against conference opponents in 2014, and the team was also honored as the MIAA regular season champs for its efforts. The tournament was highlighted by a brilliant performance from
Jordan Schmoker. He scored three of NSU's four goals, which included both markers in the championship match against the Lions. His two tallies in the finals were both unassisted and were both scored in the second half after NSU fell behind 1-0.
Justin Todd scored the game-winning goal against the Peacocks, and
Ricardo Palomino registered an assist in the semifinals.

THE CHAMP IS HERENortheastern State finished the regular season unbeaten in MIAA play with an 11-0-1 mark. The RiverHawks won the regular season championship with 34 points, finishing eight points clear of FHSU. This marked the third conference championship in school history and the first since NSU landed in a three-way tie for the 2003 Lone Star Conference regular season title. The men's soccer team is also the second program at NSU to claim an MIAA championship. The NSU women's tennis team won the regular season title last year.

SCOUTING THE TIGERSFort Hays State is located in Hays, Kansas, and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Tigers are ranked No. 23 in the nation and are entering the NCAA Championship on the heels of a 0-2-2 record in their last four outings. In their last match, they were defeated 2-0 by Lindenwood in the MIAA Championship semifinals. The team is set to compete in its third-straight national tournament. FHSU is 0-2 all-time in the event, having lost 6-3 to Northeastern State two years ago and 1-0 to Lindenwood last season. FHSU is led by MIAA Player of the Year Tanner Brock, who has 18 points (6g-6a) on the season. Diego Cabral also has 18 points (4g-10a) and leads a group of seven Tigers with at least 11 points this year. All-MIAA First Team goalkeeper Kent Freund (10-4-3) owns a .795 saves percentage and a 0.99 goals-against average. He also has six shutouts and has conceded 17 goals in 1542:59.

WHO'S WHO ON NSUNortheastern State is led in scoring by
Jordan Schmoker, who leads the Central Region with 35 points (11g-13a). His point total this season is the most in a single campaign in MIAA history. He is also first all-time in the league with 36 career assists and second with 62 career points.
Juan Peralta (7g-4a=18p) is the MIAA's all-time leading scorer with 81 career points.
Ricardo Palomino (4g-6a=14p),
Justin Todd (6g-1a=13p) and

UP TO NO. 12 IN THE NATIONNortheastern State jumped two spots to No. 12 in the nation in the final regular season polls, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Nov. 11. The RiverHawks were ranked inside the top 15 each of the final seven weeks and in eight of the last nine polls issued by the NSCAA. Northeastern State also sat atop the Central Region rankings. The side was the top-ranked team in the region in all 10 polls this season. Fort Hays State, Lindenwood and Upper Iowa were all ranked below the RiverHawks in the region.

IN THE NCAA STATSNortheastern State is ranked in the top 25 nationally in nine statistical categories. The RiverHawks rank sixth in total assists (52), seventh in assists per game (2.60), points per game (7.7) and total points (154), ninth in total goals (51), 10th in scoring offense (2.55), 12th in win percentage (.825), 22nd in goals-against average (0.79), and 24th in saves percentage (.802).

PERALTA EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION FROM NSCAAJuan Peralta was named the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Men's Division II National Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 27-Nov. 2, it was announced Nov. 4 on the College Highlights and Rankings Show on NSCAATV.com. The senior forward from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was the first player in MIAA history to win the weekly award. He moved into third place on NSU's all-time points list with eight (3g-2a) in a two-match span over that week. He registered a game-winning goal in the 14th minute and also tallied an assist in a 3-1 road win over Ouachita Baptist. He then picked up a pair of goals and added another helper in a 5-0 victory over Southwest Baptist. He scored back-to-back headers in the 23rd and 29th minutes on Senior Day against SBU. Peralta is the MIAA's all-time leading scorer with 81 career points, and he moved past Grant Harkreader (1997-00) for third on NSU's career points list. He is also fourth in school history and first in MIAA history with 35 career goals. Peralta was also honored as the MIAA Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week for his efforts. This was the first time in school history that an NSU men's soccer player has been named the national player of the week.
