KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 2015 MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipients for football were announced Tuesday morning by the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

Northeastern State placed six members of the squad on the honor roll. Those included two offensive players, three defensive players and one specialist.

Those honored were senior quarterback
Thor Long, senior defensive lineman/linebacker
Kenny Culbertson, junior defensive lineman
Dakota Moran, junior running back
Mason McMillan, sophomore kicker
Toshi Hayashi, and redshirt freshman linebacker
Colby Bivins.
Â
Overall, there were 256 MIAA Students-Athletes in football named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

To achieve honor roll status, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
Â
Of those 256 student-athletes, 17 earned the MIAA Scholar Athlete Award, which is given to those who have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50, have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms, and, if competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, earn All-MIAA honors.

Newcomers and MIAA Academic Excellence Awards will be given out following the end of the 2015-16 school year.
