Bacone Box Score (HTML)TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State softball team won both of its games on the first day of the 2015 NSU Softball Festival on a chilly Thursday afternoon at RiverHawks Park.

With temperatures never reaching 40 degrees, the RiverHawks (6-4) upped their win streak to six-straight games with an 8-6 victory over Rogers State (0-4) and a 12-1 run-rule triumph over Bacone (3-5).

Madison Boyd led NSU with four hits on the day. Seven members of the team had at least two hits, and junior
Megan Ewton and freshman
Brianna Trujillo each had three.

Due to poor weather moving into the Tahlequah area this weekend, the final day of the NSU Softball Festival will be played beginning at 10 a.m. Feb. 24. The RiverHawks will face RSU first and will conclude with Ottawa University at 2 p.m.

NORTHEASTERN STATE 8, ROGERS STATE 6NSU scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and tacked on another on Ewton's solo homer in the fourth to take an early 7-0 lead. The Hillcats would not go down quietly, however, as they plated one in the fifth and used a five-run sixth to get within one at 7-6.

Northeastern State added an insurance tally on Martin's solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, and the home team shut down RSU in the seventh to secure the victory.

Martin and Ewton were the lone members of NSU to register more than one hit. They also both scored twice. The Hillcats outhit Northeastern State 11-8.

Whitney Hamilton led Rogers State with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate. Cailin Simpson was 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored. Stephanie Schivally and Maggie McBrayer also had a pair of hits.

Junior
Kayce Wooldridge (3-1) picked up the victory in the circle after throwing a complete game for the 42nd time in her career. She conceded six runs on 11 hits, while striking out five and walking just one on 123 pitches.

Bailee Kaderka (0-2) suffered the loss after conceding NSU's first six runs. She only lasted 2.0 innings, giving up six hits. Aubrey Voboril tossed the final 4.0 frames for the Hillcats and conceded two runs on two hits.

NORTHEASTERN STATE 12, BACONE 1 (5 innings)The RiverHawks erupted for eight runs in the first inning and never looked back. They tacked on four more in the third and cruised to the run-rule triumph against the Lady Warriors.

Boyd finished 3-for-4 at the dish and tied her career-high with five runs batted in. She also scored twice. Trujillo went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored.

Junior
Alex Files went the distance for the fourth time in her career and conceded just one run on two hits. She struck out five and walked two.

BC's two hits were from Callie Beene and Kayla Bay. Bay drove home Beene in the top of the second for Bacone's lone scoring output of the day.

Starting pitcher Natisha Nakai did not record an out and was relieved by Celeste Guerra after all seven batters she faced scored. Nakai allowed seven runs on four hits, while also walking two. Guerra threw 4.0 innings and gave up five runs (one earned) on eight hits.
