TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The No. 21-ranked Northeastern State women's tennis team defeated Southern Nazarene 9-0 Friday afternoon at the NSU Tennis Complex.
 
The RiverHawks (15-4) improved to 9-1 in their last 10 matches, while the Crimson Storm (2-10) dropped their sixth-straight match.
 
SNU handed NSU two points before the match began by defaulting at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
 
Sophomore Valeriia Efimenko and freshman Molly Worden added a third point when they defeated Polina Chala and Karina Kotova 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 12-ranked doubles team of juniors Kristina Savchenkov and Patricia Husakova completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win over Masha Andrianova and Natalia Moreno at the top court.
 
Senior Barbora Jirickova clinched the team victory when she was first off in singles following a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Taylor Sullivan at the fifth position.
 
Efimenko then defeated Kotova 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth court, and Worden followed closely with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Moreno at No. 3.
 
Husakova triumphed over Chala 6-0, 6-0 on the second court, and No. 21-ranked Savchenkov closed the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) triumph over Andrianova.
 
The RiverHawks are set to close out the regular season with a match against Missouri Western State at 4 p.m. April 20 at the NSU Tennis Complex. The team will clinch the 2015 MIAA Regular Season Championship outright with a victory over the Griffons. Northeastern State has already locked up at least a share of the title and the No. 1 seed in next week's MIAA Championship tournament.
