TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State baseball team earned a nonconference victory over Rogers State University Tuesday afternoon at Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks (24-19) defeated Rogers State (14-25) 9-7 in a single nine-inning game.
Senior
Preston Cash was 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Sophomore

Jamie Graeser all recorded hits on the day.
In a staff day for the RiverHawks, five pitchers threw in the game. Junior
Jake Kern earned his 10th save of the season, tying a school record for saves in a season.
Northeastern State will next host Missouri Southern State University in the final series of the regular season April 24-26. The first game is slated to begin April 24 at 3 p.m. at Rousey Field.
NORTHEASTERN STATE 9, ROGERS STATE 7The RiverHawks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. After Ozuna doubled down the right field line, Graeser hit a ball that the right fielder could not handle, and Ozuna was able to come around and score.
Rogers State tied the game at one in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Andrew Vanisi.
The green and white used the sixth inning to score eight runs on six hits and take a 9-1 lead. Cash hit a three-run home run with two outs. Davenport, Aschbrenner, Wurth and Sims also drove in runs in the inning.
The Hillcats scored six runs of their own in the seventh inning, including four on a grand slam by Cesar Rodriguez.
The RiverHawks held RSU scoreless in the final two innings to win 9-7 in their final nonconference game of the season.
Senior
Hayden Walch started the game on the mound for the RiverHawks. He conceded no runs on one hit in 3.0 innings of work. Walch struck out three and walked two. Senior
Clay Debban threw 2.0 innings in relief giving up one run on one hit. Sophomore
Zach Poehl allowed six runs on four hits in 1.2 IP. He struck out two and walked two. Senior
Waylon Davis (3-3) earned the win throwing a scoreless 0.1 innings. Kern earned his 10th save of the season, tying the school record for saves in a season. Trevor Walch recorded 10 saves in 2013. Kern threw two scoreless innings, conceding three hits. He struck out two Hillcats and walked one.
