KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northeastern State University had 39 student-athlete newcomers from this past academic year named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, the league announced Friday.

To achieve honor roll status, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

The baseball and softball teams tied for most honorees with seven academic honor roll selections each, while the women's soccer program had five. The men's soccer team had four recipients, while women's basketball, men's basketball, women's golf and women's tennis all had three.

Of the 39 MIAA Academic Honor Roll honorees, seven were named MIAA Scholar-Athletes. MIAA Scholar-Athlete awards are given to those who have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50, have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms, and earn All-MIAA honors.

Jessica Boone,
Megan Ewton and
Alli Eales (softball),
Molly Worden and
Patricia Husakova (women's tennis),
Melissa Giles (women's soccer) and
Alexis Armon (women's golf).

The RiverHawks also had four student-athletes who earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award, which is given to those who maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 4.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

Zane Takhar (baseball).
