DENVER, Colo. – The No. 24-ranked Northeastern State men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Metro State Sunday afternoon at Regency Athletic Complex.

The RiverHawks (2-2) dropped their second-straight match in Colorado by a 2-1 margin, while the Roadrunners improved to 2-1-1 on the year.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half of play, and it was the home side that broke through in the 51st minute. Brock Labertew scored off assists from Tyler Trujillo and Arturo Vega to put MSU Denver on top, and Dustin Berg added a penalty in the 77th minute.

NSU was able to cut into the lead when redshirt freshman
Joseph Garcia netted his first-career marker on a PK in the 88th minute, but the visitors were unable to equalized.

The Roadrunners outshot the RiverHawks 24-12 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Hayden Rus (2-0-1) got the win in goal after finishing with three saves. Senior
Eric Shephard (2-2) suffered the loss after finishing with a career-high nine saves.

Northeastern State remains on the road and will travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma, for its next contest. The green and white are set to take on Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. Sept. 17.
