Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

NSU men's soccer falls to #17 Lindenwood 2-0

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The RiverHawks were held quiet on Saturday with #17 Lindenwood winning 2-0 at Hatbox Field in Muskogee.

Northeastern State had to face extra adversity when Saturday's match was moved at the last second to Bacone College's home field nearly an hour away.  The venue change was due to a sink hole that developed at DeLoache Field rendering the surface unplayable by officials.

With the move to a NAIA host site, the RiverHawks could only put up two shots in the first half; Lindenwood took the early lead off a header inside the box at the 41-minute mark.

The Lions added to their lead after an abbreviated halftime to score off of another header from a pass that was 20 yards out.  NSU put on some attacks late with six shots in the second half with two of them on-goal but they would go scoreless against a LU squad that has won their last 10 in a row.

Northeastern State had eight total shots, which was five fewer than Lindenwood; corner kicks for both squads were even at five.   Jackson Biles had eight saves in the match and Trevor Reed having two shots on-goal.

The loss will send NSU to 5-8 this season and 1-4 in MIAA play, Lindenwood goes to 11-2-2 overall and 6-0 the MIAA.

Northeastern State will return back to Tahlequah on Thursday at 7 p.m. to play Southern Nazarene.
