TAHLEQUAH, Okla. –
Andrew Galvan kicked in his second goal of the season but Northeastern State played to a 1-1 draw on Thursday night against Southern Nazarene.
The RiverHawks made a season high 34 shots which was the most since they played SNU last season on Oct. 29 were they had 40.
Southern Nazarene had the early advantage with a shot from inside the box at the 30-minute mark. Ten minutes later, Galvan set up his shot following a SNU foul and it found the back of the box from 20 yards out to even the match.
Despite the offense, the RiverHawks made plenty of attacks the keeper with 14 shots being saved.  NSU had four shots alone in the first overtime period and three more in the second.Â
Northeastern State defended well for 110 minutes with the Crimson Storm only making five shots. SNU would only make one shot at the keeper in the second half and one more in the first overtime period.
The RiverHawks played 21 different individuals against SNU with
Jackson Biles going the first 73 minutes and
Ryan Davis playing the remainder of the match as the goalkeeper.
Thursday's match concludes NSU's non-conference slate and the draw will send them to 5-8-1 overall; Southern Nazarene will go to 1-14-2 this year.
NSU will return to action in the MIAA on Sunday at with a trip to Fort Hays State, match time is set for 1:30 p.m.
