TAHLEQUAH – In what was billed as the top NCAA Division II women's soccer match of the day, the #19 Northeastern State RiverHawks saw their perfect season come to an end at home on Sunday against #2 Central Missouri. UCM scored a goal in each period for their tenth shutout in eleven matches this year.

The meeting was the first top-20 match for the NSU women's soccer program at DeLoache Field where they played in front of a full house. Â Â

Trailing by one in the second period the RiverHawks nearly tied the game on a header that caught the top part of the Jennie goalkeeper at the 53:20 mark. Just seconds later, NSU missed on a shot from in the box that hit the post.Â

After battling for another 20 minutes, UCM scored their second goal of the afternoon for added insurance.

The RiverHawks had five shots in each period and four corner kicks; Central Missouri would only get one more shot off than NSU with three kick-ins from the corner. Â Â NSU had six shots at the goal with
Jordan Woodruff having five saves;
Julia Mathis led the RiverHawks on the attack with three shots at the goal.

Sunday's loss will send NSU to 11-1 overall and 4-1 in the MIAA, Central Missouri goes to 10-1 and 4-1 in league play.
NSU will be on the road this Friday to play at Northwest Missouri State.
