EDMOND, Okla. – Northeastern State could not recover from a sluggish first half and was not able slow down the Bronchos' offense to fall 91-58 on Saturday at Central Oklahoma. Â
Turnovers hurt the RiverHawks Saturday afternoon as well with the team committing 20 and the Bronchos picking up 26 points off of.
Cameron Martin led the RiverHawks with 15 points andÂ
Montre' Williams having 12 points despite sitting out for most of the second half after putting up nine in the opening 20 minutes.Â
Rebounds were limited on both ends of the court with UCO having a 30-26 edge on the RiverHawks, Martin led NSU with four. Â
The RiverHawks shot 44.9-percent (22-49) on the floor but Central Oklahoma shot 55.7-percent and dropped down 13 three pointers to NSU's five.Â
Montre' Williams nearly gave NSU half of their points at the intermission with the RiverHawks shooting 43.5-percent on the floor. However, beyond Williams' nine points the RiverHawks fell behind quickly in the first 20 minutes to UCO with the Bronchos shooting 54.3-percent and making eight treys.  Central Oklahoma closed the half with 11 unanswered points to lead 48-22.Â
The RiverHawks continued to trail by over 20 points for the entirety of the second half and the closest they would get came at the 17:22 mark with
Montre' Williams making the score 55-34 on a trey. Â Â Central Oklahoma pushed their lead to over 30 points on a 13-2 run midway through the half to go up 74-40 on the RiverHawks. In the closing minutes, the Bronchos pulled ahead by 44-points before the NSU finished the contest out on an 11-0 run.
Central Oklahoma had five in double-figures with Demari Edwards having a game high 16 points.
Saturday's loss will send the RiverHawks to 2-5 overall, Central Oklahoma goes to 4-2, with both teams sitting at 1-1 in MIAA play.
Northeastern State will host Dallas Baptist on Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. inside the NSU Event Center; at the start of halftime will be the second annual Toy Toss for the Cherokee County Toys for Tots organization.
