MOKANE, Mo. – The Northeastern State baseball team defeated Lincoln 11-7 Sunday afternoon at South Callaway High School.

The RiverHawks (11-7, 5-3 MIAA) have won both games so far this weekend and have secured the series victory over the Blue Tigers (1-16, 0-8 MIAA). The green and white has now won back-to-back series after topping Washburn 2-1 last weekend.

The score read 3-2 after the first frame in Sunday's tilt, but NSU exploded for eight runs across the next three frames to push ahead 11-2. The visitors held that same margin all the way until the bottom of the last inning, when Lincoln exploded for five runs to close the final gap to just 11-7.

Northeastern State outhit LU 10-7, and both teams committed a pair of errors.

Junior
Bryce Davenport and redshirt freshman
Zane Takhar led the RiverHawks with identical 2-for-4 efforts. Davenport hit a home run and finished with two RBI. Takhar also drove in two runs and scored once. Junior
Dakota Woods was just 1-for-2 but managed to score three times.

NSU junior starter
Tyler Yancey lasted just 2.0 innings on the mound after allowing two runs on two hits. He settled for the no-decision after walking six and striking out three. Junior
Zach Poehl (1-0) earned his first-career victory on the mound after throwing 3.0 clean innings of relief. He did not allow a hit, but he did walk three and strike out one.

Senior
Jake Kern threw the next 3.0 frames and did not give up any runs. He allowed two hits and struck out four. Junior
Thomas Murray pitched the ninth and was tagged for five runs on three hits. He walked two and hit a batter.

Mike Million finished 3-for-4 for the home team with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Alex Ludwick was 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Million hit a homer and has now went deep in both games of the series.

Lincoln starter Trevor Schnieders (1-3) was saddled with the loss after conceding 11 runs on seven hits in 3.2 frames. He walked seven and did not record a strikeout. Zach Maskill came on in relief and calmed down the RiverHawks in the final 5.1 innings. He did not give up a run on three hits, while striking out five and walking just two.

NSU will look to complete the sweep when the two teams meet in the series finale at noon March 14 back in Jefferson City, Missouri.
