Senior pitcher collects second all-region honor

Wooldridge lands on D2CCA All-Central Region Second Team

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Senior pitcher Kayce Wooldridge was awarded a spot on the 2016 D2CCA All-Central Region Second Team, the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association announced Monday afternoon. The teams are nominated and voted upon by the region's sports information directors.

Wooldridge collected her second all-region accolade in as many weeks, as she was named on May 5 to the 2016 NFCA All-Central Region Second Team. She recently wrapped up the greatest season in school history and was also selected to the All-MIAA First Team for her efforts.

She broke single-season school records in wins (21), innings pitched (221.0), games started (30) and complete games (29). She also finished with the second-most strikeouts (155), second-most appearances (37) and third-most shutouts (six) in a single season in school history. She posted a 1.30 earned-run average, which was the lowest in the MIAA.

She ended her historic career with 11 school records. Adding to her four records above are most career wins (60), career innings pitched (699.1), career saves (eight), career appearances (129), career games started (99), career complete games (83) and single-season appearances (38 in 2014). She is also second all-time in career shutouts (13) and third in career strikeouts (392).

Last week Wooldridge became the third player in school history to earn all-region accolades. Second baseman Rachael Christian was named to the 2007 NFCA All-South Central Region First Team, and pitcher Casey Neely was named to the 2001 NFCA All-South Central Region Second Team.
