TAHLEQUAH, OK- Northeastern State's
Shelby Brewster converted a free kick midway through the second half to give the RiverHawks a 1-0 victory over Missouri Southern Sunday afternoon at Dr. Dan Deloach Field.
NSU remains unbeaten and moves to 6-0, while the Lions fall to 1-2-1. Sunday's game was a non-conference tilt despite the two teams competing in the MIAA.
The RiverHawks and Lions went back and forth for much of the first half, as each keeper turned away three attempts in the half.
In the final half, MSSU was called for a foul just outside of the box that set up the free kick for the RiverHawks. Brewster lined up the shot and put it in the left corner, her second of the year to give NSU the 1-0 lead.
The RiverHawks would hold on down the stretch withstanding a late offensive burst for the victory.
NSU keeper
Jordan Woodruff picked up her fourth shutout of the year, collecting six saves on the day.
Next action for the RiverHawks will be on Thursday September 22 as it travels to Bolivar, Mo to take on Southwest Baptist. Game time is set for  4:00 pm.
