Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

24th Ranked RiverHawks cruise by Bearcats

BOLIVER, MO-  The 24th ranked Northeastern State women's soccer team proved they belonged in the NSCAA Top 25 with a dominating 3-0 victory over Southwest Baptist here Thursday evening.

The RiverHawks finish the non-conference portion of its schedule at 7-0, while the Bearcats fall to 0-5.

Fresh off entering the top 25 for the first time in school history,  NSU kept the SBU keeper busy for the full 90 minutes.  Despite a 0-0 halftime score, the RiverHawks outshot the Bearcats 16-2.

After the break, NSU's Julia Mathis broke the tie game just 15 minutes into the half, her eighth goal of the year. She would add her ninth later in the match on a penalty kick.  Melissa Giles collected her third goal of the year to close out a 3-0 victory.

NSU keeper Jordan Woodruff picked up her fifth shutout of year, making one save and only facing four shots on the night.  The RiverHawks outshot the Bearcats 28-4.

Northeastern State will begin MIAA action on Saturday as it travels to Joplin, MO to take on Missouri Southern.  Game time is set for 2:00.
