24th Ranked Women's Soccer Pick Up 1-0 Victory Over Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, MO- The Northeastern State women's soccer team opened MIAA conference action with a 1-0 victory over Missouri Southern at Hal Bodon Field here Saturday afternoon.

The victory is the second win over the Lions in a week as the RiverHawks also picked up a 1-0 victory at Deloach Field last Sunday.  NSU remains unbeaten and moves to 8-0 and 1-0, while MSSU falls 2-3-1 and 0-1.

NSU freshman Mariah Nicolet scored the game's only goal midway through the second half.  The goal was the second of the year for Nicolet.

Jordan Woodruff was the benefactor of a great defensive effort, collecting one save as the Lions only attempted two total shots.  Woodruff picked up her sixth shutout in eight games.

The 24th ranked RiverHawks will return to Deloach field on Friday September 24 to take on the Hornets of Emporia State.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm
