Box Score ST. CHARLES, MO- The Northeastern State men's soccer team had its three game win streak come to an end as the 24th ranked Lindenwood Lions captured a 4-1 victory in the MIAA opener here Friday evening.
The RiverHawks fall to 3-4 and 0-1 while the Lions improve to 4-2-2 and 1-0.
Lindenwood took control of the match early netting three goals in the opening 20 minutes to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
NSU's Joseph Garcia put narrowed the Lions lead to 3-1 with his first goal of the year at the 20 minute mark on a free kick from 25 yards out.
Lindenwood however padded the lead with another goal just before the half to take a 4-1 lead into the break.
Both keepers were busy in the opening 45 minutes as Lindenwood held a 10-9 advantage in shots. The second half saw both teams combine for a total of seven shots as the Lions closed out the victory.
Northeastern State will continue MIAA conference action on Sunday as it travels to Upper Iowa University. Game time is set for 11:00 am
