Reed finds the net in 3-1 loss to Quincy

Northeastern State drops first game in Illinois, will face Truman State Monday

QUINCY, Ill. – The Northeastern State men's soccer team lost 3-1 to Quincy Sunday night at Legends Stadium.
 
The RiverHawks dropped to 0-2 on the young campaign, while the Hawks were able to secure their season opener.
 
Chris McArthur put the home team on top just 4:21 into the contest when he scored off a free kick. Taylor Reis finished a pass from Jordan Stephens in the 21st minute to add to QU's advantage.
 
Junior midfielder Trevor Reed scored the first goal of the season for NSU in the 31st minute, but the Hawks potted a marker just 1:34 later when Pete Condol scored from Scott Ladi.
 
Neither team scored in the second half.
 
Quincy held marginal advantages in both shots (13-12) and corner kicks (5-4).
 
Senior goalkeeper Jackson Biles (0-2) played the first 45 minutes and converted four saves, while conceding three goals. Junior Ryan Davis played the final 45 minutes and did not see a shot on goal.
 
Nate Griffin (1-0) had seven saves and just one goal allowed to earn the victory for the home team.
 
NSU will remain in Quincy for a match with Truman State at 5 p.m. Sept. 5.
