TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State remained red hot on Thursday evening and easily handled Oklahoma Baptist with a 4-0 win.
The RiverHawks had three goals in the second half in their eighth consecutive win at home which tied a program mark that was last set in 1995.
Justin Todd put Northeastern State on the board first in the 13th minute scoring on an Oklahoma Baptist block for his fourth goal of the season. The goal could have been NSU's second of the evening with an offsides call being charged on
Aaron Ugbah after he found the back of the net two minutes into the contest.
Northeastern State would go through 40 minutes up 1-0 on the Bison until the flood gates opened starting with
Bailey Weeks getting his first career goal on a bounce from a corner kick at the 52-minute mark. Less than a minute later, an OBU yellow card inside the box allowed
Joe Garcia to kick in his eleventh goal of the season on a penalty kick to put the RiverHawks up 3-0.
Jacob Weaver continued the NSU onslaught of scoring with his first goal of the season at the 68th minute on a pass from
Jackson Padilla that put him ahead of the OBU keeper for the open net goal.
The RiverHawks had a commanding 19-to-6 shot advantage on Oklahoma Baptist with the Bison only having one-shot on goal. Thursday's shutout was the fifth this season for goalkeeper
Ryan Davis which leads the MIAA.
Northeastern State's win over Oklahoma Baptist (7-8-1) sends them to 11-4 overall and it was the team's eighth straight win, they will return to the field on Saturday night at 7 p.m. for their final home contest this season to host Delta State.
