TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State hit three homers and blasted their way to a series win over Southwest Baptist by taking the final game 12-2 in seven innings at Thomas C. Rousey Field.
In the last two games, the RiverHawks had 27 hits and 23 runs; during the six game skid that ended on Saturday, NSU had 17 runs combined.

"Our guys put a lot time in and they are really grinding in to try to get better and figure things out," said head coach
Jake Hendrick. "Credit to them, they put the time in, and obviously it paid off this weekend."

After giving up two runs to the Bearcats (14-8, 5-7 MIAA) in the opening frame, the RiverHawks batted through their order in the bottom half of the inning with
Dakota Morse hitting his second home run of the series, clearing the bases with a grand slam. Earlier in the inning,
Bryce Davenport doubled in
Butch Rea for NSU's first run. The RiverHawks would knock out SBU's starter without recording an out.

Northeastern State added to their lead in the fourth win
Zane Takhar hitting a RBI single before
Jordan Payne blasted a no-doubt homer to left field to give them a 9-2 lead on the Bearcats.  One inning later, NSU scored their tenth run on a SBU error in right field, and with a runner at third, Morse hit his fifth RBI on a sac fly to center to pull the RiverHawks ahead 11-2.

In the seventh, Davenport ended the game on the first pitch he saw with a home run to right field to run-rule the Bearcats.

The RiverHawks had 14 hits with
Dakota Woods going 3-for-4 with three runs scored.Â

Freshman starter
Nolan Sturgeon (2-0) only allowed three hits, with two of those coming in the opening inning for the win.

Northeastern State (11-9, 5-4 MIAA) will be on the road this Tuesday where they will face Pittsburg State.
