ST. CHARLES, Mo. –
Carlee Gann homered twice for the RiverHawks but they would split their games on Saturday against Lindenwood. Northeastern State run-ruled the Lions 10-2 in five innings but their offense came to a halt in the nightcap falling 2-1.
Northeastern State will return home from their weekend from St. Charles, 3-1 with the RiverHawks sweeping Lincoln on Friday night.
Carlee Gann swung a hot bat in the opener with a three run blast in the second to cap a six run frame by the RiverHawks. In the fourth,
Haley Acrey hit a RBI double and
Jess Schuler had a sac fly RBI to push NSU ahead 8-0.
Lindenwood (11-18, 2-10 MIAA) scored their first run of the game in the bottom half of the fourth before
Carlee Gann homered for the second time to give NSU a 10-1 lead. The Lions scored their second run in the bottom frame with the game ending due to the run-rule.
Jennifer Wolf (9-6) tossed a complete game for the RiverHawks who had a 11 hits on the Lions.
Carlee Gann went 2-for-4 with five RBI on her two homers.
The nightcap was a different story for the RiverHawks and they struck out seven times while going scoreless through the first five innings.
Trailing the Lions 2-0, Acrey hit her fifth double of the weekend to left center in the sixth with two outs but the threat ended with a popup to short. Northeastern State would go down in order in the seventh with
Taryn Gray (4-7) picking up a tough loss with only two runs given up.
The RiverHawks had six hits with
Sierra Crick going 2-for-3 and a run scored.
Northeastern State is now 20-19 this season and 9-7 in the MIAA, they will go to Rogers State on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader.
