CLAREMORE – Northeastern State split their midweek non-conference match with Rogers State, falling 10-1 in the opener and
Sierra Crick hit an eventual game winning RBI double to edge a 7-6 win on Tuesday night.
Crick had three of NSU's seven hits in the nightcap with a homer coming in the third inning. After Rogers State tied the game at four in the bottom of the third,
Ryan Martin put the RiverHawks ahead on a two RBI double to right field.
The Hillcats (25-15) tied the game in the sixth on RBI doubles before Crick hit her seventh double of the season for the go-ahead run.
Sylver Collins made the start for NSU and went 3 2/3 innings,
Jennifer Wolf (11-7) came out of the bullpen and threw the remaining part of the contest with four strikeouts.
Crick finished the game with three RBI,
Jess Schuler had a hit and two RBI.
Tuesday's opener was a different story for the RiverHawks who clung onto a 1-0 lead through the first three innings. The Hillcats scored in each of the final three frames to run-rule the RiverHawks in six innings.
Taryn Gray (5-9) and
Mollie Carter both appeared for NSU in the circle.
The doubleheader was NSU's (23-22) last non-conference event of the season and they will return to MIAA play on Saturday to host Central Oklahoma for senior day.
