WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Northeastern State hit two home runs but committed five errors in a 7-2 loss to Central Missouri on Saturday night.

Jordan Payne homered for the 12th time this season in the sixth inning which is tied for the most in the MIAA this season, and
Butch Rea singled to start the game to push his hitting streak to 22 games. However, this was two of the RiverHawks five hits, as UCM plated their runs in five different innings to give NSU their fifth loss in a row.Â

Chad Reibenspies gave the RiverHawks their only lead of the night with a solo shot in the second inning before the Mules tied the game on a three error third inning. Central Missouri plated three runs in the next two frames before Payne cleared the fence in the sixth two make the score 4-2.

The Mules (27-12, 18-9 MIAA) added a run to their lead in the seventh, and two more crossed home in the eighth.

Northeastern State (19-19, 13-14 MIAA) batters struck out ten times to the Mules, with Reibenspies as the lone NSU batter with two hits.

Hunter Neal (4-4) went seven innings for NSU, with six strikeouts in his 11th start of the year.

The RiverHawks will continue their series with the Mules on Sunday for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
