Nyasha Dube beat the final horn and kicked in the game winning shot from in front of the West Texas A&M goalkeeper for a 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon.
The RiverHawks broke into the win column in their fourth try after coming up on the losing end of a pair of 1-0 battles. Â
Aaron Ugbah gave NSU their first goal of the season in the ninth minute from the foot of
Justin Todd.
NSU played defensive for the majority of the contest with West Texas A&M (2-1) having ten shots in both periods; on the offensive side NSU had five total.Â
The Buffs cracked into the scoring column in the 52nd minute to even the contest at one on a pass came from behind NSU keeper
Ryan Davis. Northeastern State continued to play on their heels with WT taking four corner kicks in the final 45 minutes. Â
Northeastern State played the final nine minutes a man up on the Buffs following a second yellow card on a WT defender.  Dube entered the contest following the WT card at the 82nd minute and he broke through a Buff defense that was expecting to play overtime and kicked in a shot from the right side of the net with a second remaining for a game winner.
The contest featured 20 fouls, with eight yellow cards being held up by officials.  Davis ended up with 11 saves for the RiverHawks who are now 1-3 this season.
Northeastern State will return to action on Thursday to host Harding at 7 p.m.
