NSU Registers Second Straight Draw

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Northeastern State and Washburn battled a constant drizzle to finish in a 1-1 tie on Friday evening in MIAA soccer action at Deloache Field.

The tie moves the RiverHawks 6-5-2 and remains winless in conference play at 0-4-2.

Paige Lorenzo collected her fourth goal of the year to put the RiverHawks in front in the 19th minute, converting a cross from Mariah Nicolet for a 1-0 lead.

NSU held the 1-0 lead until the 87th minute, as Washburn converted a corner kick to tie the match at 1-1.

In the extra sessions, Paulina Chavez had NSU's best scoring chance hitting the crossbar.

Northeastern State out-shot Washburn 20-17, with Sarah Rector, Chavez, Lorenzo and Nicolet leading the way with three shots each.

NSU keeper Brennen Hockett had six saves on the evening.

The RiverHawks will welcome Emporia State to Deloache Field on Sunday, game time is set for 1:00 pm.
