TAHLEQUAH -- Senior Trevor Reed scored a goal and assisted on another as 18th ranked Northeastern State turned in a dominating performance picking up a 2-0 victory over Upper Iowa in MIAA soccer action at DeLoache Field Friday evening.
The RiverHawks improve to 14-2-1 on the year and 4-2-1 in conference play.
NSU dominated from the start, outshooting the Peacocks 17-3 in the opening half and 27-9 on the night. Of those 27 shots, 15 were on goal as the Upper Iowa keeper had 11 first half saves and 13 total.
Reed gave NSU a 1-0 in the 18th minute taking a pass from Ben Watson for his eighth goal of the year. Blake Dumond continued his hot streak adding his fourth goal in the last two games, taking a pass from Reed and heading it pass the Peacocks keeper for a 2-0 RiverHawks lead.
NSU keeper Thomas Salenbien continued his solid play, collecting five saves and moves his record to 8-1-1.
Northeastern State will return to DeLoache Field for the final time on Sunday November 4 as it will take on the Lions of Lindenwood University. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
