EDMOND – Northeastern State suffered a pair of losses on Thursday falling 3-1 to Oklahoma Christian and then 14-4 to Southern Nazarene.
Errors proved to be costly for the RiverHawks (3-3) in both of the contests with eight runs coming across as result from a NSU miscue.
In the opener against Oklahoma Christian, the RiverHawks scratched a run to tie the game at 1-1 on a
Jessica Boone sac fly in the third. After a scoreless inning an infield error allowed the tying run to reach with one out. The Lady Eagles runner stole second to advance into scoring position and they would get a timely double down the left field line for the go-ahead run.
In the sixth, Oklahoma Christian added an insurance run on a one-out double to center.
Northeastern State would only get two hits in the loss.
Things did not get better for NSU in the nightcap and the Crimson Storm plated 11 runs in the first two innings. Northeastern State would commit four errors in the second inning to allow 11 batters to come up to the plate and score eight runs.
Trailing 11-0 in third,
Jess Schuler doubled in two RBI, and
Kelsey Harmon singled in a run to close the gap. In the fifth, SNU cleared the bases with a three run homer to go up 14-3 on the RiverHawks.
Delaney Neal gave NSU their fourth run in the bottom half of the fifth on a bases loaded walk.
The RiverHawks will return to the field on Friday to play East Central at 11 a.m. and then Southeastern Oklahoma at 1 p.m., both games will be played at Oklahoma Christian.
