NSU softball suffer a pair of setbacks to Tarleton State

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State suffered a pair of non-conference setbacks on Tuesday afternoon to Tarleton State, falling 12-0 and 12-1 in five innings at RiverHawks Park.  NSU (12-10) saw its seven game winning streak end with Haley Acrey's solo homer in the nightcap accounting for their lone run against the TexAnns (20-6).

Acrey's homer was the junior's second in the past three games and she accounted for two of the RiverHawks' three hits in the second half of the doubleheader.   Northeastern State would commit a season high six errors with Tarleton State scoring ten unearned runs in the second loss of the day.

In the opener, Tarleton State used long ball to tag the RiverHawks with four hits leaving the park.

Alex Azua (0-2) started the opener and Gail Young (6-4) tossed four innings as the starter in game two for Northeastern State.

Oddly, the RiverHawks' last five games have gone the minimum due to NCAA's run rule going into effect.

Northeastern State will be on the road this weekend and will play in an invitational at Missouri Western starting on Friday.
