RiverHawks rally for walk-off victory

TAHLEQUAH, OKLA--- Northeastern State walked off in style as Oscar Resendez Jr's three run home run capped off a six run ninth inning rally  to catapult the RiverHawks to a thrilling 10-7 come from behind victory over Washburn in MIAA action at Rousey Field here Friday.

Northeastern State trailing 7-4 heading into the final frame, Erick Espinosa started the comeback with a solo home run.  After a Gabriel Murillo single, Zack Henderson tied the game with a blast over the left field wall that tied the game at 7-7.

After tying the game at 7-7, the RiverHawks got back to back singles from Jaxon Phipps and Zane Takhar. That brought Resendez Jr. to the plate who belted his fourth home run of the year and fourth of the game over the left center field wall and give the RiverHawks the 10-7 victory.

Resendez Jr. singled home the first two runs for the RiverHawks in the first inning and Connor Reynolds followed with another single to give NSU an early 3-0 lead.

NSU starter Ben Strahm went six innings on the mound striking out six, but was chased after allowing three runs in the sixth with NSU trailing 5-3.

Phipps belted his fifth home run of the year in the seventh inning, cutting the Ichabods lead to one at 5-4.
