SHAWNEE, Okla. – Northeastern State took its fourth game in as many days with an 8-2 non-conference win at Oklahoma Baptist on Monday afternoon.  Alex Massie went 3-for-5 at the plate with NSU's pitching staff striking out 13 Bison batters. 

The RiverHawks (15-10) led from the start to finish plating two runs in the opening frame and one more in the second.   Oklahoma Baptist (16-10) cut slightly into the NSU lead in the fifth with a fielder's choice RBI.

Erick Espinosa scored the first of two runs for the RiverHawks in the sixth on a triple to right center and Massie followed up with a RBI single to right to send them ahead 5-1 on Oklahoma Baptist.

The Bison's final run came off a leadoff homer in the seventh before the RiverHawks hung up a three on the scoreboard in the next frame.

Trevor Smith (1-1) went five innings and struck out five OBU batters, Trevor Nance tossed the final four innings for the save with eight punch outs.

Northeastern State had eight of its nine starters record a hit with four runs being scored from its top two batters in the lineup.

The RiverHawks will return to Thomas C. Rousey Field on Tuesday for a MIAA contest with Pitt State.  First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
