TAHLEQUAH – For the second consecutive season, Northeastern State will have six home football games, with the announcement coming on Tuesday.
This season's upcoming schedule continues a top-to-bottom MIAA slate but with a different rotation of opponents. Northeastern State opens the season under the lights on Thursday, August 30 at 7 p.m. with Emporia State. On the following Thursday, NSU will then travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to face Central Missouri on Sept. 6.
Week three will look the same as 2017's schedule with the RiverHawks playing Pittsburg State under the lights on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
From week three onward, the rest of the regular season schedule shifts to Saturday contests.
Northeastern State will travel to Missouri Western for week four before hosting Nebraska-Kearney in 2018's Homecoming Game, which will take place on Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.
The RiverHawks travel to Topeka, Kan. in week six to face Washburn at 1 p.m.
For the following four weeks, NSU will be close to home with Lindenwood visiting on Oct. 13. Northeastern State's closest road game takes place on Oct. 20 with a short trip to Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo. On Oct. 27, the RiverHawks will host Northwest Missouri, and will close out the home slate with Central Oklahoma on Nov. 3 in the 21st Battle for the President's Cup.
To close the regular season, the RiverHawks head to Fort Hays State on Nov. 10 for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
