Tristan Ridenour's RBI single drove in the lone run for the RiverHawks in an 8-1 loss to Emporia State here Saturday afternoon.
NSU falls to 25-20 and 16-16, while the Hornets pull ahead of the RiverHawks in conference standings at 26-19 and 17-15.
Northeastern State appeared to be in control of the game as starter
Ben Strahm cruised through the first five innings. Strahm gave up just three hits and struck out seven, which included striking out the side in the third. Â
The RiverHawks put the first run on the board in the fourth inning. Back to back singles from
Oscar Resendez Jr. and
Erick Espinosa set up the RBI single by Ridenour.
Emporia State tied the game in the sixth inning and put the game out of reach in the seventh with six runs in the seventh. The Hornets added one more in the eighth to win 8-1.
The RiverHawks will look to keep pace in the conference standing on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the series. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
