RiverHawks shutout Southwest Baptist, 2-0

BOLIVAR, Mo. – Northeastern State closed out its non-conference slate with a 2-0 shutout at Southwest Baptist on Friday evening.  The shutout is the third this season for the RiverHawks who are only six matches into the season.  Mariah Nicolet put NSU ahead with a goal in the 17th minute and Valeria Pankratova put them over the top with their second in the 80th minute.  Northeastern State will head into MIAA play with a 6-1 record while the Bearcats go to 0-6-1.

IN THE BOX SCORE
  • Fifth goal of the season for Nicolet and third for Pankratova.
  • Southwest Baptist did not have a shot on-goal against the RiverHawks.  This is the first time since Sept. 6, 2015 vs. Oklahoma Christian that a team came up empty with their attacks at the NSU goal.
  • Nicolet paced NSU with eight shots and four shots on-goal.
  • Paige Lorenzo was credited with the assist on Nicolet's goal.
TURNING POINT
A corner kick in the 79th minute from Sommer Franks led to the RiverHawks second goal to put away SBU.

  • Fifth straight program win over Southwest Baptist while going to 10-2-1 all-time.
  • The four shots allowed by NSU matched a season low that was set in the opener at Northwestern Oklahoma.
