JOPLIN, MO. – Megan Chase scored her first goal at Northeastern State but they would fall in the second minute of overtime, 2-1, at Missouri Southern on Sunday afternoon. The Lions scored both their goals in the final six minutes of competition to secure a come-from-behind win at home to move to 5-2-1 (1-0 MIAA). Northeastern State fell for the first time on the road with their record going to 6-2 (0-1 MIAA).
TURNING POINT
The Lions forced overtime on the RiverHawks following a corner kick and a header goal in the 85th minute of the contest.
IN THE BOX SCORE
- The RiverHawks had one shot taken in the final 23 minutes of the contest.
- NSU had five shots on-goal with one attempt made by five different student-athletes.
- Missouri Southern scored their game winning goal on the first shot taken by either team in overtime.
PERFORMANCES TO HIGHLIGHT
- The loss on Sunday halted an eight match winning streak over the Lions. Four of the last five contests have been 1-nil victories toward the RiverHawks.
- Chase is the eighth different NSU student-athlete to have a goal this season.
