UCM pulls past RiverHawks in 3-1 loss

TAHLEQUAH – Sarah Rector scored her first goal of the season, but two second-half goals by #7-ranked Central Missouri handed the RiverHawks their second home loss of the season, 3-1, on Friday evening.

Rector's goal in the third minute of the second half equalized the match at 1-1 on a kick that came off the deflection of the UCM keeper.

The NSU momentum was short-lived, and the Jennies scored three minutes later on a rebound off a corner kick. In the 58th minute, following an Emily Seiler shot on-goal, the Jennies ran down the pitch and scored their third goal of the evening.

Shots were near even with the Jennies holding a 14-13 advantage; attacks on-goal were even at seven apiece.  UCM held an 8-to-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Mariah Nicolet led the RiverHawks with three shots with two of those on-goal.

The loss drops the RiverHawks to 0-2 in MIAA play and 5-3-1 overall.   Central Missouri has now won six consecutive and improves to 8-1 (2-0 MIAA).

Northeastern State remains at home and will host Missouri Southern this Sunday for a 1 p.m. first touch.
