RiverHawks advance to GAC Tournament after dramatic win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Flynn Semmerling scored his second goal of the match in overtime to lead the RiverHawks Men's Soccer team to a dramatic 3-2 win over Ouachita Baptist Sunday afternoon. The win gives the RiverHawks a regular season record of 11-7, with a conference record of 9-5. The Tigers finish the season with a record of 4-12-2, and a conference record of 4-9-1.

It looked like the RiverHawks might win in regulation, but in the 85th minute Hector Duron snuck one into the back of the net to even the score. He also had the first goal of the match for the Tigers, in the 18th minute that made it a 1-0 lead.

The RiverHawks responded in the 34th minute when the RiverHawks were awarded a penalty kick, which Semmerling converted, beating the Tigers goalkeeper in the lower-right corner of the net. The RiverHawks scored again just out of halftime when Tom Singhgolden found the back of the net in the 46th minute and give NSU the lead.

The RiverHawks and Tigers both had five shots on goal, with Singhgolden and Semmerling having two and Josh Tatarian providing one. Justin Hinman made three saves in net for the RiverHawks.

The RiverHawks will open the GAC Tournament on Friday when they face Rogers State. If they win, they will play Sunday in the conference championship match. The tournament will be hosted by Fort Hays State.
