ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- Northeastern State came from behind twice, as they opened their 2019 season with an 8-5 victory against Missouri S&T on Friday morning.
NSU pitcher
Gail Young pitched a complete game and struck out five in the opener. Â
Addie Elbon went 3-for-4 with four RBI to lead the RiverHawks offensively.

Madison Boyd scored three runs with one hit and two walks, and
Jess Schuler went 2-2 with two runs scored.
NSU started off behind as the Miners scored two runs in the second before Elbon hit a RBI single in the top of the third to cut the S&T lead in half.
In the fifth, the RiverHawks took its first lead of the season plating three runs on two hits. However, the Miners countered in the bottom half of the inning with four hits and three run to overtake the RiverHawks with a 5-4 lead.
The offense continued in the sixth with Northeastern State having, Boyd,
Haley Acrey,
Cameron Conrad, and
Jess Schuler all scoring a run. Elbon would plate the go-ahead run for NSU on a full-count single.
The RiverHawks will be back in action later today as they play Ouachita Baptist at 1 p.m. Â
