WICHITA FALLS, Texas – #14 Northeastern State opened its season to a 6-1 loss at #15 Midwestern State on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.

Mayra Jovic was the lone NSU player to pick up a point against their former Lone Star Conference rivals.  The NSU senior was the final remaining player on the court in a three-set (6-2, 5-7, 7-5) victory in number-2 singles. 

Jovic has yet to lose a match in the regular season, carrying a 19-0 record. 

#33 Tatjana Stoll fell 7-6 (3), 6-4 on the main court against #16 Maddy Coffman.  Betka Gombarova in her second career match at number-3 singles, lost 7-5, 6-4.

The match was the season opener for both squads. 

Northeastern State heads north of the Red River and faces Cameron on Sunday at 1 p.m.
